Glennis, love the pictures . oh and the shop for shibori supplies. did you see any new help for the arashi shibori? does the festival of shibori happen every year?
re supplies: no but there is a gal (anne selby) who is marketing an arashi machine out of the UK for something around $14,000 (US-not including shipping). doesn’t mean there aren’t any there(in Japan)- just that i didn’t come across it …this time. as i understand it, selby has taken her machine to Sri Lanka and is training a labor force there to produce a line of arashi scarves for her. her arashi work is beautiful and it appears she has found a way to overcome the labor factor as it has been reported that labor costs in Sri Lanka are even below those of China. for me, this is not an option for a variety of reasons. i would love to try her machine though but the price is out of my league. perhaps it might be viable for you-

and yes, the festival occurs every year. i am working on putting together a new shibori study tour for next year.
Hi Glennis, for me the machine is totally out of my league too, and I am happy with the one my son build it, I know Anne Selby I bought a gripper for her but it did not work for me, she made beautiful shibori. Recently I found this place call Maiwa and they sell gripers to put in the fingers I bought it but did not received yet. I would like very much to participate in the next shibori study tour, will try to start saving money.
Take care
